Potato Salad Contest: RECIPE 3 - Chloe Roddick (Edinburgh Film Festival)

'THE MRS RODDICK SPECIAL'

This is my Mum's Secret Potato Salad Recipe.
This is the best potato salad you will ever eat. As you eat it, you'll weep to think of all the other sub-par potato salads you have eaten in your life. It will be like emerging from the darkness, into the light.

Ingredients:
Jersey Royals (peeled)
Mayonnaise (FULL-FAT or FORGET IT) (I dunno, loads really)
Spring Onions (a bunch, chopped)
Red Onions (1 large, diced)
Celery (diced)
Walnuts (a few handfuls, roughly hewn)
Greek yoghurt (one spoonful)
Allspice (to taste)
Paprika (to taste)
A pinch of mild chili powder
A pinch of dill
A dash of worcester sauce
and a LOAD (nearly a whole block, if you can handle it) of parmesan.

Boil potatoes till soft. Add everything. Mix up. REVEL. x

Potato Salad Contest: RECIPE 2 - Jenny Horwell (Branchage)

'THE PURIST'

Jersey Royals (steam them, takes 10 minutes, amazing)
Extra Virgin olive oil (CRUCIAL: add the oil to the chopped potatoes while they're still hot)
Spring onions (chopped)
Maldon Sea Salt (yes it matters)
Black pepper.

The picture ain't pretty, but it tasted beautiful.

Potato Salad Contest: RECIPE 1 - Xanthe Hamilton

'THE DIRECTOR'

To kick us off on the Jersey Royals potato salad recipe bonanza, this creation is from Branchage Festival Director Miss Xanthe Hamilton:

DO YOU HAVE THE ULTIMATE POTATO SALAD RECIPE?

At the British Sea Power event on Tuesday night we had a tattie-tastic gift for everyone in the audience.  To celebrate Jersey Royals coming into season, The Jersey Royal Company themselves sent us 800 bags of 'taters to give away... free!  It was a real spud-studded event (groan).

With the leftover bags sitting in our office, our minds have turned to potato salad, and a few variations have already been made. But debate rages as to the ultimate potato salad ingredients.

And so an idea forms...

A potato salad recipe contest! Oh yes!

Email your favourite Jersey Royal potato salad ingredients and we'll post 'em right here on the blog.  Are you a purist? Experimenter? Fan of fusion? What combo blows your socks off?

Send the recipe to jenny@branchagefestival.com.

British Sea Power-ed

British Sea Power blew us away at our live soundtrack event on Tuesday evening (a joint production between Branchage and The Quietus).

The combination of the incredible interior of the Union Chapel, a huge suspended screen and amazing acoustics made an inspired setting for the Man of Aran live soundtrack.

It was intense, and stunning, and joyous.

Unforgettable.  Huge thanks to everyone who helped us to put this event together!

Submit to Branchage!

We are delighted and excited to announce that submissions are open for Branchage Festival 2010!

Come one, come all, enter your films for consideration.  We're accepting all genres, all styles, all subjects and all lengths.

Each year, the contribution that your films make to the festival is just enormous.  Without your films, the world of Branchage would be a far less dazzling and diverse place - so the Programming Team can't wait to see your work.

Submission is hassle free via withoutabox.  For fees, guidelines and entry, click here...

The early bird deadline is coming up on 29th April, but the main deadline isn't until 22nd June, and even then you still have another fortnight until the late deadline on 8th July.

Get cracking, submit films.
